Since 1955 The Richard D. McDonough Foundation has been dedicated to providing scholarships to employees of New Hampshire golf courses.
About
The McDonough Foundation is a volunteer organization whose sole mission is to provide scholarships for up to four years to young men and women employed at New Hampshire golf courses, who are attending colleges and universities of their choice for undergraduate studies, as well as vocational trade programs within nationally accredited trade institutions. The Foundation solicits monies on an annual basis in support of this mission and is a 501 (c)(3) not-for profit organization. The Foundation’s Federal Tax ID# is 02-6012491.
2025-26 SCHOLARSHIPS
The May 15th deadline has passed for scholarship applications for the 2025-26 academic year.
Interviews are currently being scheduled for eligible applicants.
Scholarship Awards will be determined in late July, and awards will be distributed by early August.
The yearbook will be updated once awards have been announced.

2024-25 McDonough Scholarship Awards totaled $182,000!
96 Scholars from 36 country clubs and golf courses throughout the state of New Hampshire received scholarships this year.
The 2025-26 Scholarship Determination Process is currently in the works. Awards will be announced in early August.
If you missed this year’s May 15 deadline, check back in January of 2026 for the 2026-27 scholarship application.

The McDonough Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization, welcomes all general contributions from individuals, corporations, foundations, or golf organizations. All contributions are acknowledged and are fully tax-deductible. Please consider a contribution to help the NH youth reach their academic goals.
Scholarships
Any student employee of a New Hampshire golf course or club, including pro shop, grounds, wait, kitchen & office staff, may be eligible for the scholarship. Candidates should demonstrate the promise of academic success, as well as require financial assistance. Once awarded, a McDonough Scholarship may be renewed each year for a total of four years. Annual grants are renewable, upon application, depending upon demonstrated need for financial aid and annual maintenance of academic standards. All candidates must be recommended by the golf club where they are in at least their second full season of employment.
APPLY
Annual scholarship applications are accepted each year from late January until May 15th.
Any student employed at a New Hampshire golf course for two summers or clubs may be eligible for a scholarship. Candidates should demonstrate the promise of academic success, as well as require financial assistance.

RECIPIENTS
Congratulations to our 2024-25 scholarship recipients. The McDonough Foundation’s Scholarship Committee was pleased to award $182,000 in scholarships to 96 applicants, who represent 36 golf clubs throughout the state of New Hampshire.

McDonough’s 4th Online Auction
This auction took place from May 24 until June 3, 2025
We are proud to announce that $28,156 in bids were placed over a ten-day period.
The net proceeds of this fundraiser go toward scholarship awards for NH golf course employees attending college.
Our sincere gratitude to all who placed bids on the 59 donated rounds.
